Laboratory Technician

Job Description:

The Laboratory Technician will support the R&D engineers in carrying out various lab work and routine duties. This includes assisting in operating lab equipment, preparing samples (ink formulation, coating on substrates etc.), conducting experiments, maintaining cleanliness and safety of the lab, performing various administrative roles and any ad-hoc duties as and when required.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Operate laboratory equipment and instruments according to described standard operating procedures and provide technical support to the engineers

  • Handle chemicals and prepare samples, including making ink dispersions, performing solution-processed coating, analyzing coating quality, and keeping a record of all parameters and findings

  • Carry out post-treatment processes and assembly of samples into devices, assist engineers in testing, data processing, analysis of results, and report writing

  • Monitor inventory for chemicals, materials, and consumables; ensure material safety data sheets (SDS) are updated and documented properly; keep track of equipment servicing and maintenance schedule

  • Ensure the laboratory complies with safety rules and procedures and risk assessments are read before any activities are conducted

  • Maintain tidiness and cleanliness of the laboratory; conduct daily housekeeping and organization of lab apparatus and tools

  • Assist with any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the engineers


Job Requirements:

  • Diploma in Engineering or Science, preferably Applied Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering or equivalent field

  • Minimum 2 years of working experiences in lab environment

  • Basic understanding of chemical synthesis, ink formulation and characterization

  • Good hands-on skills, careful in handling chemicals and apparatus

  • Possess a strong sense of safety and attention to detail

  • Able to analyze experimental data, read and interpret technical procedures

  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams from all levels across the organization

  • Willing to learn and able to adapt to change

  • Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills
